Tua Tagovailoa will continue to make his case for the Falcons' starting quarterback job as Atlanta opens the preseason against the Broncos.
The veteran has impressed in camp with Michael Penix Jr. still recovering from a torn ACL and will get the start Friday. Though coach Kevin Stefanski has not yet named a starter for the regular-season opener, Penix still hasn't been fully cleared and Tagovailoa will get the chance to work with the first-team offense in a game situation.
Denver has no such quarterback quandary, as Bo Nix seems fully recovered from the broken ankle he suffered during the divisional playoff game against the Bills. He won't make his preseason debut until next week's home game against the Packers, leaving Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger to use Friday's game as a key audition for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart.
