After capping off a perfect 4-0 group stage play, the Dominican Republic is looking to keep their momentum going into Friday's quarterfinal matchup against Korea.
The Dominican Republic finished the group stage as the highest scoring team with 41 runs across the four games and was the only team to average a double-digit run total (10.25). Five players from the team have two home runs: Junior Caminero, Oneil Cruz, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Juan Soto, and Fernando Tatis. The key for the Dominicans has been brute force via runs, and so far, it has been working flawlessly.
Despite finishing 2-2 in their four group-stage games, Korea was fortunate to advance into the quarterfinals. Team Korea's Bo Gyeong Moon is currently the tournament's RBI leader with 11, along with boasting a .538 average. The Koreans finished the group stage with the lowest team batting average among those to qualify for the knockouts at .243, but are looking to pull off one of the WBC's biggest upsets in Miami.
The home of the Miami Marlins, loanDepot Park, has hosted a home game for the Dominican Republic. Raucous fans, drums, and singing have echoed through the stadium since the team's first game. Korea can't get rattled while playing their first game outside of the Tokyo Dome, or else they may join the long line of WBC teams subject to a Dominican blowout win.
Here is how to tune into today's Dominican Republic vs. Korea WBC quarterfinal matchup.
