AEW star Chris Jericho has been absent from the promotion for seven months, and his contract is just a few months away from expiring. Reports have suggested that he might go to WWE for a retirement match and a Hall of Fame induction. While nothing is confirmed by Le Champion, the AEW President's recent answers convinced fans that the veteran was on his way out.

The multiple-time champion has been one of the most significant faces the Jacksonville-based company has to offer. He carried the promotion on his back when he became the inaugural World Champion in 2019. However, after contributing to their success, it is likely he could be heading back to his previous employer. Tony Khan has not been clear about the Demo God's status in All Elite Wrestling.

In a recent interview with Adam's Apple NYC, AEW President Tony Khan said Chris Jericho has a long way to go before retiring. The former also believes that Le Champion will have his final bout in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Fans believe Tony Khan's answer confirms that Jericho will soon be signing with the global sports entertainment juggernaut.

Tony Khan talks about Chris Jericho's AEW status

The inaugural AEW World Champion's contract will expire in December 2025. In April, he was reportedly on a hiatus for a tour with his band, Fozzy.

While speaking on The Aerial Helwani Show, the AEW President revealed that the two parties have been negotiating the dates.

"I can't speak to that, but I love Chris in AEW, and the door is always open for him to come in...It's a good question, and some of it just comes down to working out the dates. I would rather not get into it, but I respect you asking about it," Khan said.

It remains to be seen where fans will see Chris Jericho next.
