The fantasy football season is heading into its home stretch, but there's still a way to go. After four months of work, it all could be wiped away with a single mistake. That mistake could take the form of neglecting the waiver wire. As such, Sportskeeda has combed through the waiver wire to identify some players you should strongly consider adding.

Here's a look at the best players on offer.

1] Michael Carter, Arizona Cardinals

Bam Knight suffered an ankle sprain in Week 15, according to Adam Schefter in a Monday report on X. While the injury isn't expected to keep him out for the rest of the season, he is expected to miss at least Week 16.

This opens the door for Michael Carter to be the lead back against the Atlanta Falcons, a team with a recent history of struggling to stop offenses.

2] Isaiah Davis, New York Jets

Isaiah Davis stared down a stiff Jacksonville Jaguars secondary and won. In just nine carries, Davis earned more yards per carry and more rushing touchdowns than Breece Hall.

As such, Davis is worth a speculative addition. With changes unfurling throughout the New York Jets, a change at starting running back would be the least surprising development. It's worth getting in position just in case.

3] Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Washington Commanders

Chris Rodriguez Jr.'s health kept him off the stat sheet in Week 15, opening the floodgates for Jacory Croskey-Merritt. The Washington Commanders running back earned 18 carries in relief of Rodriguez.

If Rodriguez misses Week 16, expect another healthy helping of carries for Croskey-Merritt. Jayden Daniels was shut down for the season, so expect the rushing attack to take the Commanders the rest of the way for better or worse.

1] Jayden Higgins, Houston Texans

Jayden Higgins didn't have the most explosive body of work against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15, but his overall body of work has been usable since the start of November.

With the Las Vegas Raiders on tap in Week 16, Higgins is in line for a significant slice of the fantasy football pie.

2] Ryan Flournoy, Dallas Cowboys

Ryan Flournoy has elevated in recent weeks, making himself a worthy addition. With the Dallas Cowboys' playoff hopes on life support, the team could shut down some of its biggest stars like CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens before the end of the year.

If that happens, Flournoy's already notable fantasy stock will shoot through the roof. If you have a bench spot on your fantasy football team that you're looking to fill, you could take worse gambles than on Flournoy.

3] Kayshon Boutte, New England Patriots

Kayshon Boutte isn't on a run like he had between Week 6 and Week 8, but he had a good enough outing against the New York Giants in Week 13 to make him worthy of a gamble in fantasy football.

With the Baltimore Ravens likely to take away Stefon Diggs in Week 16, it's going to take someone under the radar to keep the passing game afloat. Boutte is a quality candidate for that and has popped earlier this season.

1] Darren Waller, Miami Dolphins

Darren Waller's fantasy performance was buried at the end of a blowout Miami Dolphins-Pittsburgh Steelers showdown, but his production is worth buying in nonetheless.

Waller compiled seven catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns, opening the chance for another similar showing to his explosive start to the year. You could do much worse in fantasy football than Waller, especially with the Cincinnati Bengals on tap.

2] Mason Taylor, New York Jets

Mason Taylor saw one of his most-targeted games against the Miami Dolphins in Week 14. Taylor missed Week 15, but as a tight end coming off a game with eight targets, some fantasy football managers will have a place for him.

The Jets face the New Orleans Saints in Week 16, and if Taylor can get on the field, he could be a quality under-the-radar fantasy football option.
