'We seem to have been adopted': Stray kitten returns to the house after mom cat moves the litter and adopts itself by walking inside, asking for attention, and settling into its forever home

• We seem to have been adopted.

  We had a stray momma give birth in our utility room five weeks ago. The plan was to capture her, and take the whole bunch to the clinic for shots, and to be fixed. Of course, momma had different plans, and moved them all out on Tuesday. Woke up this morning to urgent mewing, and found this little sweetheart wandering around, looking for attention.

• Already made a trip to Petco for kitten supplies, and have an appointment on Monday to have it checked out. Until then, it seems to have settled right in.

• Tuxedo cats are always so cute. The little white paws and chest markings make them stand out right away. Some of them look like they’re wearing tiny socks, some look like they’ve got little mustaches. The black and white coloring just works. Even when they’re being chaotic, they still somehow look all dressed up at the same time.

• The CDS always delivers eventually. Sometimes it starts small and seems temporary, just a kitten hanging around for a bit or stopping by for attention. Then suddenly there’s a trip to Petco, a vet appointment on the calendar, blankets set up, and a tiny cat asleep in the house. What looked like a quick visit turns into a permanent resident before anyone fully realizes it happened. The kitten already knew where it wanted to end up.

• Seems like this kitten stole your heart and everyone else’s too. Coming back alone, crying for attention, and walking right up to people like that was enough to win everyone over pretty fast. Now there’s kitten food, blankets, toys, and a vet appointment already booked. This little one really picked the right house to wander back to.
