"We're looking to hunt up wins. Not bonuses": Drake Maye trolls Stefon Diggs after helping unlock $500,000 bonus for Patriots WR

Drake Maye put up another impressive performance in Week 17. He helped the New England Patriots secure a dominating 42-10 victory on the road against the New York Jets. This victory, followed by the Buffalo Bills' loss to the Eagles, helped the team clinch their first division title since 2019.

However, apart from this, Drake Maye also played a part in unlocking a half-million-dollar incentive on WR Stefon Diggs' contract. Heading into this Week 17 contest, he was four catches away from having 80 receptions this season. This would unlock the $500,000 bonus tied to this statistic.

Diggs ended the night achieving this milestone and hitting the $500,00 bonus. After the game, Drake Maye said that he did not know about this stipulation in the WR's contract. The quarterback joked that he expects Diggs to treat him to a nice dinner for getting the bonus.

"No, but I'll make sure to tell him he needs to buy me dinner. We're not looking to hunt up incentives, we're looking to hunt up wins," Maye said as per a tweet from Alex Barth.

Maye ended the game completing 19 of 21 passes for 256 yards and five touchdowns. This helped the Patriots improve to a 13-3 record with a two-game winning streak.

On the other hand, the Jets are dead last in the AFC East with a 3-13 record and a four-game losing streak. This disappointing year has raised an air of uncertainty regarding coach Aaron Glenn's future with the franchise.

After the game, Maye joined OX Sports' Kristina Pink for a sideline interview.

The Patriots quarterback praised his team for their performance on the field and expressed his joy for adding another victory to his record.

"Just proud of these guys out here," Maye said. "We showed up, we started fast, and just didn't stop there. Took everybody. You know, great win on the road, we're 8-0 on the road this year. That's pretty cool. "It's tough to win on the road in this league. And you know, we packed our identity, stayed true to ourselves, you know bringing it each week and we did that."

The Patriots drafted Drake Maye with the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. During his rookie campaign, he tallied 2,276 yards and 15 TDs passing while the team finished with a 4-13 record.

Maye and his team next face the Dolphins on Sunday before beginning preparations for the playoffs.
