We may be living in the golden age of the Broadway pro-shot.

Just this summer alone, two professionally recorded stage shows (both are currently running on Broadway) have hit theaters. Hadestown — which you can stream on-demand now — was a smash hit, prompting theaters to extend its limited run well beyond the original one-week engagement.

Six: The Musical Live! also played in movie theaters across America earlier this month, introducing audiences to the “one of a kind, no category” musical about the six wives of King Henry VIII.

Pro-shots make theater more accessible and bring it to people who otherwise may not get a chance to see live theater; that’s why they are so important.

Luckily, Hadestown and Six are just two of the many incredible pro-shots available on streaming now. Here are nine that we recommend checking out this weekend.

Next to Normal

Recent Tony Award winner Caissie Levy starred as Diana Goodman in the acclaimed 2024 West End production of Next to Normal, which was filmed and released in 2025. In the musical, Diana is a mother struggling with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that managing her illness has on her family. Next to Normal initially premiered on Broadway in 2009, won Best Musical at the Tonys and became the eighth musical to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Hamilton

The very next musical to win the Pulitzer for Drama, Hamilton, was also filmed live on stage. After opening in 2015 and winning 11 Tony Awards, Hamilton was recorded ahead of the original cast’s departures in 2016, so the cast seen in the film is the entire original Broadway cast. Of course, Hamilton is the rap-inspired bio-musical about Alexander Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda that took Broadway by storm.

Les Misérables: The Staged Concert

This list probably wouldn’t be complete without Les Misérables (especially if I’m writing it), and though there are many filmed versions of this musical, this one — filmed at London’s Gielgud Theatre in 2019 — is among the finest there is with the closest thing musical theater might get to an all-star team.

Longtime Jean Valjean Alfie Boe leads the cast with the original Marius, Michael Ball, opposite him as Javert. The rest of the cast is also made up of West End Les Mis mainstays: Carrie Hope Fletcher as Fantine, Matt Lucas as Thénardier, Katy Secombe as Madame Thénardier, Rob Houchen as Marius, Shan Ako as Éponine, Bradley Jaden as Enjolras and Earl Carpenter as The Bishop of Digne.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Attend the tale… without ever leaving your home. Filmed live during the musical’s national tour in 1982, this capture of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street by Stephen Sondheim features Angela Lansbury in the role that led to her fourth Tony Award, Mrs. Lovett. The Gothic musical follows Sweeney Todd (played here by George Hearn), a barber who murders clients with a straight razor and then hands them over to Lovett to turn them into meat pies.

Come From Away

Timed to the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Apple TV released a proshot of Come From Away. The musical, which premiered on Broadway in 2017, is based on what actually happened in the town of Gander in Newfoundland, Canada, the week of 9/11. Thirty-eight planes were diverted from all over the world and directed to land in Gander. The stories told and characters represented in the musical are inspired by the true stories of Gander residents, pilots and passengers on the planes.

When the musical was filmed in early 2021, it was done in front of an audience of frontline workers and 9/11 survivors.

Once a confounding cult classic, Merrily We Roll Along is now a musical that makes sense thanks to the production that was filmed live at Broadway’s Hudson Theater in 2024. Jonathan Groff, Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez tell the story of a friendship that starts at the end, as it’s all falling apart, and goes back in time to chart just how it all happened.

Newsies: The Broadway Musical

Seize the day and stream Newsies at home now. The beloved Disney musical based on the 1992 film follows a group of newsboys during the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 and features some of the best dancing you’ll ever see. Some original Broadway cast members — Jeremy Jordan as Jack, Kara Lindsay as Katherine, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie and Tommy Bracco as Spot Conlon — joined the show’s national tour in 2016 to film this live capture.

Frozen

West End star Samantha Barks headlines the proshot of Frozen that’s currently streaming on Disney+ as Elsa, joined by Laura Dawkes as Anna. The stage adaptation of Disney’s iconic animated movie was filmed live in London in 2024.

Falsettos

Shot live during the musical’s acclaimed 2016 Broadway revival, Falsettos features an all-star musical theater cast that includes Christian Borle (Smash), Andrew Rannells (Girls), Stephanie J. Block and Brandon Uranowitz. Essentially, Falsettos is a complex web of love stories centered around Marvin (Borle), who left his “tight knit family” for a man, Whizzer, while Marvin’s ex-wife finds love again with his therapist, Mendel.
