Watch: Kyle Schwarber crushes D'Backs' 2-0 lead with 4th HR

2 hours ago 3

You can only keep Kyle Schwarber quiet for so many games. After six games and 20 plate appearances, the Philadelphia Phillies superstar returned to the home run column in style against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Diamondbacks jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning after Ketel Marte's lead-off home run and an RBI hit from catcher Adrian Del Castillo off Taijuan Walker. Schwarber was kept quiet in his first at-bat, but on the 1-0 pitch from Brandon Pfaadt, Schwarber pulled the ball into the right field stands for a three-run home run as Alec Bohm and Justin Crawford also came home to take a 3-2 lead.

The three-run home run had an exit velocity of 110.7 mph and the ball sailed for 381 ft. distance.

Shortly after Schwarber's bomb, first baseman Bryce Harper joined the party with a solo shot to extend the Phillies' lead to 4-2.

Kyle Schwarber off to poor start in 2026

Unlike the 2025 season, Kyle Schwarber has started this season on a rather slow note. Coming into Friday's game against Arizona, the Phillies designated hitter was only hitting .182 with three home runs and six RBIs.

Schwarber's numbers have also reflected in the Phillies' 6-7 record to begin the season. Moreover, the entire ballclub is only hitting .186, actually.

The left-handed hitter, who exploded for 56 home runs last season, is struggling particularly against southpaws, hitting only .158 with .510 OPS. Also, he has been struck out 21 times already in 44 plate appearances.

Those numbers have to change if the Phillies aim to return to a .500 record.
