The New England Patriots were rewarded for their impressive 2025 campaign with Pro Bowl selections for quarterback Drake Maye and cornerback Christian Gonzalez. Their inclusion shows just how impactful both players have been during a season that has already delivered a playoff berth and positioned New England for a potential AFC East title.
While a Pro Bowl nod is typically considered a major individual milestone, neither Maye nor Gonzalez showed mucch reaction when coach Mike Vrabel announced their selections during a team meeting on Tuesday.
The Patriots’ official X account dropped the Pro Bowl reveal video on Thursday, and it immediately caught fans’ attention. After being told they had been voted to the Pro Bowl, both players kept straight faces with little visible emotion. Watch here:

This is Maye’s second Pro Bowl nod after being selected as an alternate during his rookie season, when he started 12 games and threw 15 touchdowns to 10 interceptions.
Now firmly established as one of the league’s elite quarterbacks, Maye earned a Pro Bowl roster spot while putting himself squarely in the MVP race. He leads the NFL in completion percentage (70.9) and QBR (73.4), has totaled 3,567 passing yards and 25 touchdowns, and has limited mistakes with just eight interceptions. His dual-threat ability has also been on display, with 387 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Gonzalez’s season got off to a slow start after a hamstring injury in training camp forced him to miss the first three games. Since returning, he has quickly reaffirmed his status as one of the league’s top young cornerbacks. The former first-round pick and 2024 second-team All-Pro has consistently displayed elite coverage skills and the ability to neutralize top receivers.
A cornerstone of the Patriots’ defense, Gonzalez has totaled 61 tackles and 10 passes defended this season. He has allowed just 33 receptions on 68 targets, surrendering a passer rating of only 68.2 when targeted.
Drake Maye wished more New England Patriots teammates made the 2025 Pro Bowl roster
The NFL selected Drake Maye and Christian Gonzalez as the New England Patriots’ only Pro Bowl representatives on Tuesday, a decision that raised eyebrows considering the team’s impressive 12-3 record.
During his press conference, Maye responded with gratitude, pointing to the experience he gained at last year’s Pro Bowl alongside the league’s elite. However, he didn’t hide his frustration that several of his teammates were overlooked.
"I think there’s numerous guys on our squad that I think are deserving," Maye said. "I don’t want to leave out anybody’s name. But I don’t see frustration from the guys. They want to focus on the games ahead and what we can do this season as a team. They’re less worried about individual statistics and awards and that’s what’s cool about this team and makes me want to be that way as well." "It’s obviously a great honor. Don’t want to put that to bed like it’s not a cool deal but as I said, we got some more important games ahead. I’m looking forward to that."Maye joins elite company on the AFC Pro Bowl roster alongside Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills and Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers. In addition to the Pro Bowl honor, he is No. 2 in NFL MVP voting behind only Los Angeles Rams veteran Matthew Stafford after one of the most productive seasons by a Patriots quarterback in recent memory.
