Barstool Sports personality and golf influencer Cody 'Beef' Franke passed away at 31. The former pro golfer turned content creator, known for sharing golfing tips, died over the weekend after what the digital company he was affiliated with called a "sudden medical issue."
Barstool Sports' Fore Play podcast confirmed Franke's passing on their X account on Monday, October 27, and remembered his love for the game of golf. They wrote:
"We are beyond devastated to announce that our dear friend and beloved Barstool Sports Colleague, Cody 'Beef' Franke, passed away from a sudden medical issue over the weekend. Cody truly loved the game of golf. He selflessly spends much of his time helping others improve and enjoy the game."According to The Independent UK, he was reportedly attending the wedding in the Dominican Republic over the weekend. There is no information on Cody 'Beef' Franke's family, wife, or children, or if he had any. The only family member he ever mentioned is his brother Craig, who has reportedly played golf with him.
He mentioned during a 2023 profile by Kemper Sports, per Entertainment Weekly, that his brother is also a PGA member. Their family is reportedly big on golf and and they were introduced to the sport through their grandparents.
Tributes poured in as news of Cody 'Beef' Franke's death came out
Since Cody 'Beef' Franke's death over the weekend came out, tributes have poured out on social media. Some of his Barstool colleagues shared their grief and love over the golf personality's passing, including Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy. He eulogized Franke on X, writing:
"You will never find a nicer more genuine person than Beef. It's hard to even process it right now. Just another cruel reminder that tomorrow is never promised and to live each day at its fullest."

Fellow Barstool personality Frankie Borrelli also shared Fore Play podcast's tribute to Franke and shared his own words, remembering how "Beef made everyone else's lie better."
More Barstool colleagues like Trent Ryan, Francis Ellis, Ryan Whitney, and Jersey Jerry shared their devastation on hearing their colleagues' sudden passing. Moreover, the PGA of America shared its own tribute to Franke on its social media. In a Facebook post on Monday, they wrote:
"Beef's kind, genuine and warm personality was what made him so great to be around. We were lucky to have worked with him on countless projects this year and will miss him terribly."According to the PGA of America, Franke graduated from the PGA Gold Management program at Ferris State University in Michigan before getting his first full-time position at Desert Willow Golf Resort. They also called his joining Barstool's Fore Play team as something where he "brought his coaching expertise and admiration for the game to a whole new audience of golfers and non-golfers alike."
Cody 'Beef' Franke joined the Fore Play podcast as their new Head of Golf Professional in December 2024, per Fox.
