The Golden State Warriors find themselves in a strange situation with youngster Jonathan Kuminga. There have been parts throughout Kuminga’s career where he looks to be an above-average player, but unfortunately, Steve Kerr hasn't given him all of the leeway to be that player.
Whether that's due to something Kerr notices in practice or if he simply doesn't love his game, some have questioned whether Kuminga will ever have the opportunity to truly be himself in a Warriors jersey.
Given his pending contract situation, trading him might be a better option, and some believe that could happen during the remainder of the offseason, including Sports Illustrated's Mark Morales-Smith. Morales-Smith proposes a three-team trade idea to send him to the Brooklyn Nets for Cam Thomas.

“The Warriors need to move off of Kuminga, and Thomas is an outstanding young replacement. He's coming off a sophomore NBA season in which he averaged 24 points per game. It's unlikely they'd get a better player back than Thomas for moving Kuminga,” he wrote.
Thomas and Kuminga are completely different players, so if the Warriors want a wing, it's likely better to keep Kuminga around. However, if they're looking for someone who can score the basketball at will, Thomas is exactly that. Unfortunately, Thomas has some other problems in his game, but he’s likely a bit more proven than Kuminga at this stage of his career.
