Jonathan Kuminga wants to leave the Golden State Warriors and join whichever team will take him. The Warriors need to pivot before the NBA's Feb. 5 trade deadline and find a replacement for the injured Jimmy Butler.
Veteran NBA insider Marc Stein suspects there could be a match in Miami, where the Warriors brass could re-acquire an old friend.

Stein on Friday reported that the Warriors are "expected to explore" the possibility with the heat of a Kuminga-for-Andrew Wiggins swap, which would see the former first overall pick reunite with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green in San Francisco.

— Underdog NBA (@UnderdogNBA) January 23, 2026Wiggins was dealt to Miami a year ago as part of Golden State's trade to acquire Jimmy Butler. But as Butler has been ruled out for the season with a torn ACL, the Warriors now find themselves in the awkward position of potentially getting Wiggins back as they reload for another playoff run.
Wiggins was a vital contributor to the Warriors' 2022 title, and he reportedly remains close with members of the Golden State brain trust. However, Wiggins currently is a key player on a Miami team that is trying to crack the top six in the Eastern Conference. A trade back to the Warriors might take more than just Kuminga.
