Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards spoke their postseason matchup against the Golden State Warriors into existence.
Edwards went on record months ago sharing that he hoped to see the Warriors in the playoffs, and following Golden State's Game 7 win over the Houston Rockets, his request was fulfilled. The Wolves and Warriors face off for Game 1 in Minnesota on Tuesday, but a recent remark from superstar Stephen Curry should have them worried.
After Golden State's series-clinching win, Curry told reporter Adam Spolane, "That's one of the toughest defenses I think I've ever faced."
Curry averaged series highs in points (24) and assists (5.7) while shooting 47.1% and 39.2% from three-point range. The Rockets had freak-of-nature rookie Amen Thompson chasing Curry around on the offensive end throughout every matchup, but even he couldn't contain him.
If the Warriors superstar is calling that one of the toughest defenses he's faced in his career, then the Timberwolves are staring down an incredibly tall task. 24 points per game on efficient shooting splits being viewed as a poor stretch should scare Minnesota.
Forward Jaden McDaniels is widely regarded as a top perimeter defender in the NBA, and Edwards simply plays with an unmatched amount of energy and aggression. However, time will tell if it's enough to slow down Curry and advance to the Western Conference Finals for the second consecutive season.
