Warriors predicted to trade Steph Curry to Spurs for $285M complimentary duo in monster deal

The Golden State Warriors had an interesting offseason, to say the least, as they were linked to both LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, none of that came to fruition, and they mostly signed players who had already made an impact within the organization.

The offseason was a miss in terms of what the Warriors could have accomplished. Some considered the team to be going off the rails this summer.

“The Golden State Warriors' offseason is quickly going off the rails, with them having done little to improve thus far. The Warriors failing to improve their roster this summer should come as a massive disappointment to star Steph Curry," Hoops Habit's Cal Durrett wrote.

With Golden State failing to build a strong playoff-contending roster, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins urged Steph Curry to find a way out.

“Steph needs to be planning his exit strategy from the Golden State Warriors," said Perkins on 'NBA Today'. "Think about it, over the last four years, the Warriors have been in the play-in tournament. And this year, the way that the West is stacked up, they're gonna be a play-in tournament team again. You can't waste any more time hoping and banking that Mike Dunleavy is gonna get it right or is gonna make the moves that are needed to make sure that you can compete for a title, especially in a tough Western Conference.”

After this, trade speculation surrounding Curry was in full force. Heavy.com’s Sai Mohan proposed a trade that would send Curry to the San Antonio Spurs for Dylan Harper and De’Aaron Fox.

“Warriors would receive: Dylan Harper, De’Aaron Fox, 2028 first-round pick (via BOS) and 2028 first-round pick swap (via SAS),” Mohan wrote.

This would be a great deal for the Warriors, as it would allow them to begin the rebuilding process with a great young guard in Harper. The Spurs would pair Victor Wembanyama with Curry, which would create a nightmare duo for the rest of the NBA.

Fox and Harper’s contracts combine for $285 million. San Antonio fell short in the Finals, so this deal would put the Spurs in even better contention. For both sides, the trade would be great for the direction each team is going in.
