Warriors now know asking price for Bronny James-Lakers trade

While the Golden State Warriors may no longer be the perceived favorites to land former Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, it doesn’t mean they aren’t still in the mix.

In fact, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Warriors are among the finalists in the captivating James sweepstakes. Of course, signing James would likely require Golden State to execute a trade for James’ 21-year-old son, Bronny.

According to Lakers Nation’s Trevor Lane, the asking price for Bronny following a blockbuster James signing is relatively straightforward.

“Trading Bronny to wherever he goes is not a difficult thing for the Lakers to do because his salary is so small,” Lane wrote Sunday. “I think the best-case scenario, what we are talking about here is a second-round pick.”

That sounds about right for Bronny, who’s been in and out of the G-League since entering the NBA in 2024 and is still working out the kinks on the offensive end as a defensive-minded contributor. This past season, the USC product averaged 2.9 points and 1.2 assists per game with the Lakers, shooting 40.9% from the field and 38.6% from three (low volume).

Considering that a trade for Bronny would be more about appeasing LeBron and less about adding an immediate impact contributor, the Warriors shouldn't be concerned about Bronny’s potential on-court production in 2026-27.
