Warriors didn't want Anthony Edwards in NBA Draft, but he's about to end their season

Anthony Edwards is a shooting star, soaring through the NBA skies night after night, en route to a status as one of the best basketball players on the planet.

He's on the verge of yet another impressive accomplishment, a chance to end the Warriors season and return to the Western Conference Finals.

Fittingly, Edwards has shined bright against Golden State, a team that once admitted it wouldn't have drafted Edwards even if it had the No. 1 pick in 2020.

The Warriors had the No. 2 pick, but they've indicated over time that James Wiseman was top on their draft board.

The Timberwolves picked Edwards out of Georgia, leaving the Warriors with their man, the intriguing center out of Memphis.

Wiseman has flamed out entirely. Meanwhile, Edwards' flame is burning ever brighter.

The concern about Edwards in the draft had to do with his inconsistent effort for an underwhelming Georgia team.

Turns out, his otherworldly ability and competitiveness have served him just fine in the NBA.

He's coming off 36- and 30-point outings in Games 3 and 4, both wins, as the Timberwolves try to knock Golden State off in Game 5 on Wednesday night.

It's all hypothetical, since Minnesota wanted Edwards over Wiseman and made that choice anyways.

But the history of basketball would sure be different if the Warriors landed Edwards instead.

But they didn't want him, not to that extent, and instead they're watching up close his continued ascent to the top of the NBA.
