VJ Edgecombe is ready to learn from LeBron James and Jaylen Brown in the 2026-27 season

After a tremendous rookie season with the Philadelphia 76ers, VJ Edgecombe will now be playing alongside more superstars. In his first year, he played alongside stars like Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, who are already fantastic players. However, in his second year, he will also be joined by Jaylen Brown and LeBron James.

Edgecombe is firmly fifth on the totem pole now, which is a problem for some people. Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green even called him the biggest loser from the new-look 76ers squad. Despite that notion, it seems Edgecombe himself is not too worried.

As the youngest player in the starting lineup, it is understandable that Edgecombe has the most to learn. He has superstar-level talent, but he will have to play a smaller role for now because all the other players in the starting lineup are more proven than him.

While some people might find this hard to accept, Edgecombe is taking it in stride. He wants to learn from his new teammates because he knows that they worked hard to get where they are. Edgecombe does not take any shortcuts, as he wants to learn and grow because of the people around him.

This is a big blow to what Green was talking about. As long as Edgecombe maintains a healthy attitude during his time playing with James and Brown, it won't be a problem when the 2026-27 season rolls around, and he is playing more of a 3-and-D player.

"I was working out, so I was on the court. One of the coaches had on an Apple Watch, which kept going off. He stopped and looked at it, and he was like, 'Yo, we just got Bron.' I stopped mid-workout to check my phone if it was real... Just to learn, man. To me, he's the greatest of all time, so now we got him, JB, Jo, Rese, it's a squad. I'm just excited to learn," Edgecombe said about his reaction to seeing James join.

Edgecombe has the right approach to having superstars on the team. He wants to learn from them, take everything in as a lesson, and put that into practice as soon as he can. That is a healthy mindset, and it shows that Edgecombe is committed to being a better player and teammate moving forward.
