Dodgers projected starting rotation after Tarik Skubal trade might be unstoppable

The Los Angeles Dodgers have pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Detroit Tigers in a move that's been a long-time coming.

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Dodgers are trading for Tarik Skubal, sending Zyhir Hope, River Ryan, and Brady Smith for the Cy Young winner. It's a huge move, and now, Skubal is slated to join the World Series champions in pursuit of a three-peat.

In the wake of this stunning trade, which is yet to become official as of late Saturday, how does the Dodgers' rotation look? Well, this rotation is downright ridiculous, unfair, and most likely unstoppable.

For the projected Dodgers' rotation, it's not safe to assume everyone is healthy. But, come October, when things really matter for the Dodgers, this is what their rotation could look like.

No. 1: Yoshinobu Yamamoto
No. 2: Tarik Skubal
No. 3: Shohei Ohtani
No. 4: Blake Snell
No. 5: Tyler Glasnow

That group of five starters is easily the best in baseball. That's multiple Cy Young-winners in that group, with some elite upside in Yamamoto and Ohtani.

Just that initial five-man rotation is already a ridiculous setup. But the Dodgers don't just have the high-end talent; they also have some incredible depth.

Justin Wrobleski, who has a 2.88 ERA this season with an 11-2 record and was an All-Star, might be the greatest No. 6 pitcher in MLB history after this Skubal trade becomes official.

Oh yeah, don't forget about Roki Sasaki, the 24-year-old phenom who, while inconsistent with a 4.64 ERA this season, has been on a tear lately, and was an elite reliever during the Dodgers' 2025 World Series run.

And not that they need an eighth starting pitcher, but the Dodgers also kept Emmet Sheehan, not trading him to the Tigers as had been rumored before. He has a 4.95 ERA this season, but last year in 73.1 innings, he had a 2.82 ERA.

Just for good measure, the Dodgers also have Eric Lauer, who they scooped up this season from the Toronto Blue Jays, and has been solid for the team since coming over mid-season. Landon Knack is minor-league depth, and there are plenty of intriguing prospects as well.

The Dodgers' options for their starting rotation following the Skubal blockbuster are completely ridiculous. There's no better rotation in baseball. Not right now, and maybe not even in MLB history. This rotation has the chance to be that good with Skubal.
