Vikings star drops subtle anger at Minnesota's cutting ties with Sam Darnold

The Minnesota Vikings had Sam Darnold as their starting QB for just one season.

They went 14-3.

But after the 2024 campaign, which included a bumpy Week 18 and playoff loss, the Vikings didn't bring Darnold back.

He took about $100 million for a three-year contract to sign with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Vikings hitched their horses to J.J. McCarthy, who hadn't played an NFL regular season snap after missing his entire rookie season with a knee injury.

It didn't work out for Minnesota, who struggled through quarterback issues all season long and can't be sure that McCarthy is even the long-term answer anymore.

Meanwhile, Darnold made the Pro Bowl, led the Seahawks to the NFC's No. 1 seed and now has them going to the Super Bowl.

Darnold was great on Sunday in the NFC Championship Game to get past Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams and set up a date in two weeks with the New England Patriots with the Lombardi Trophy on the line.

Anyway, there's a Vikings star not thrilled about that.

Minnesota standout pass rusher Jonathan Greenard shared this post on X on Sunday night after Darnold got his win:

Sure, it might just be three dots, but it's hard to miss the messaging meant in Greenard's timing.

The Vikings this season had one of the most talented rosters in football. They just didn't have anyone good at the most important position in sports.

They needed a guy like Darnold, but he's in Seattle now, preparing for the Super Bowl.
