When news broke that the Minnesota Vikings had signed quarterback Kyler Murray, the reactions of people around the league really do matter.
And in this case, the response was wildly positive.
With Murray in Minnesota, with Kevin O'Connell and the weapons at his disposal, most think he has the inside track at the starting job. Leaving J.J. McCarthy on the outer.
But while many love the move for Murray, how is it being graded by the folks over at PFF?
Well, the website has given it a "Good" contract grade due to Kyler costing just $1.3 million.
“After a trying 2025 season that saw Murray play just five games, he lands in an ideal landing spot with the Vikings,” PFF wrote. “Murray hasn’t been as dynamic over the last three years with a 74.3 PFF passing grade, tossing 48 big-time throws compared to 43 turnover-worthy plays, but he’s still a high-ceiling starter who should push J.J. McCarthy. If Murray plays like peak form, this will look like an absolute bargain.”

Murray signing ideal for Vikings
One of two things will happen, and both are great for Minnesota.
Either Murray walks in, blows them away this offseason, earns the starting role, and the Vikings have found their guy. Or, McCarthy raises his level of play, he wins the job, and the Vikings have their future QB.
Of course, those two scenarios are ideal for Minnesota, and we might not see a definitive winner at all. From what we are seeing on social media, this appears to be Murray's battle to lose.
The Vikings have been ridiculed for letting Sam Darnold go, and if Murray even shows a hint of what Darnold did, you can easily make the case that Kyler will be their quarterback for the foreseeable future.
