The Denver Broncos, to the shock of their fanbase, have not signed a single free agent from another team thus far this offseason. That became official on Thursday when the Seattle Seahawks, who had not yet signed any outside players, agreed to terms with running back Emanuel Wilson.
The Broncos seem to be trying to set a new record of re-signing the most free agents in one offseason.
If Wilson's name sounds familiar, it should. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Broncos out of Fort Valley State in 2023. The team waived him just three days later. Approximately one week after that, he was signed by the Green Bay Packers and he became a productive player for the team.
More recently. I discussed some low-cost running back options for the Broncos to look at and Wilson was on that list. A return to Denver made a lot of sense for him as the team, which seems to want to be thrifty, could use more depth at running back.
Wilson has only 242 career carries, so he should have plenty of energy in the tank. He's also a stout, powerful runner, capable of picking up the first down in short-yardage situations while also being a good option inside the 5-yard line, something the Broncos desperately needed toward the end of last season.

Instead, Wilson will join the defending Super Bowl champions, becoming the first outside player Seattle has signed in free agency so far. The Broncos are left to continue to look over the dwindling options on the free-agent market or set their sights on the 2026 NFL Draft.
