Vikings have a timeline for signing Kyler Murray in free agency after Cardinals release

1 hour ago 2

Minnesota Vikings fans are seeing the Kyler Murray rumors.

They're likely wondering, so when might a deal get done for the released QB from the Arizona Cardinals? Sounds like sooner rather than later.

On Wednesday night, Arizona radio veteran John Gambadoro posted this on X:

"Kyler Murray will visit with the Minnesota Vikings tomorrow. A starting spot is a priority, and Minnesota does offer that and a deal could be done in the next 24 hours. But Murray and his camp are expected to explore several options as a backup in 2026 for teams that could need a starting QB in 2027 over the next 24 hours."

While that floats the fascinating possibility of Murray going somewhere like the Rams to be a backup for a year, the key Vikings info is that 24-hour timeline, which Gambadoro actually cites twice.

That could mean by Thursday night, there's a deal.

Murray has at least some leverage here, given his talent level, so he likely could take longer if he wanted, as well.

As far as other intel, NFL Network's Rapoport wrote this on X earlier than the Gambadoro post:

"The #Vikings plan to make a push for Kyler Murray and are the favorite to land the former No. 1 pick, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. Finally released now by Arizona, Murray will take his time and wants to hear directly from other teams. But Minnesota is the team to beat."

It definitely is trending toward the Vikings.

And maybe that news will come out sometime by the end of Thursday.
