Every NFL roster move has an equal and opposite reaction, even if only one side of the equation takes the headlines.
For example, on Thursday, the Minnesota Vikings activated Aaron Jones from Injured Reserve. Jones will return to the backfield in time for Thursday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers.
But the Vikings also had to clear a roster space to make room for Jones' activation from IR.
To do that, they waived Kobe King.
King was a sixth-round pick just this year out of Penn State. The Vikings chose him No. 201 overall in April's draft.
The linebacker is originally from Detroit, where he played at perennial powerhouse Cass Tech.

This season, King has been in uniform for five of the Vikings' games. He has four total tackles (two solo, two assist).
King has only played three snaps on defense, but he has gotten in for 77 special teams snaps, appearing in 54.2% of the possible special teams plays in the games he has played in.
At just 22 years old, King can still have an NFL future.
Right now, the Vikings are likely hoping no one claims King off waivers. If he passes through waivers, Minnesota can then sign him to the practice squad.
But if another team liked King in the draft and likes his tape so far, they could claim him and ruin that Vikings plan.
Minnesota will be happy to get Jones back. It just came at the cost of a roster spot for a young player still trying to make his way in the league.
