Victor Wembanyama is excited to return to San Antonio after a stint with the national team

Now, he is set to come back to San Antonio after a fun stint with the French national team. He is always excited to return to the San Antonio Spurs; that is a good sign for the team moving forward because they have a committed superstar who adores the city he plays for.

Victor Wembanyama is ecstatic to come back to San Antonio

Wembanyama had another superb run with the French national team, which bodes well for their long-term future. They are seen as the biggest threats to Team USA, which they proved during the 2024 Paris Olympics. They were not successful, but Wembanyama showed why he is considered one of the best players in the world.

While he does love playing for France, he has to prepare ahead of the 2026-27 season. It will be a big campaign for him and the Spurs because they want to double down on the success of the previous season. Yes, they lost in the NBA Finals, but it was one of the best runs in recent memory.

"A little bit, yes. Although, when it comes to nostalgia, yes and no. It doesn’t change the fact that I’m still really excited to return to San Antonio and get back to work. There’s nowhere else quite like it when it comes to putting in the work," Wembanyama said to the French media after his last game for the national team in 2026.

It will be interesting to see what Wembanyama looks like ahead of the 2026-27 season. He showed that he was still dominant for France, but it will be fun to see what it means for his NBA career. He is among the favorites to win the MVP award, and he wants the Spurs to get some payback in the NBA Finals.
