The San Antonio Spurs suffered a historic collapse in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. They blew a massive 29-point lead against the New York Knicks. The heartbreaking 107-106 defeat left the young team trailing three to one in the championship series. It also placed them on the brink of elimination.
San Antonio dominated the first half and built a commanding 76-49 lead at halftime. However, the offense completely fell apart after the break.
The Spurs managed just 30 points across the final two quarters. Despite the slump, they held a one-point lead in the final seconds.
A missed shot by De'Aaron Fox left the door open for New York. OG Anunoby scored a game-winning putback with just over one second remaining on the clock.
The devastating loss left the roster searching for answers. Center Victor Wembanyama finished the night with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks. He did not hide his disappointment during the post-game press conference.
“It was painful, of course. It feels like we worked too hard and gave up our lead. It's as simple as that. It just hurts,” Wembanyama said.

— Spurs Nation (@Spurs_Nation) June 11, 2026The star center pointed directly at the team's focus and execution during the second-half meltdown.
“I think it's just execution, greediness of some sort. We clearly weren't the most hungry in the second half,” Wembanyama added.
The Spurs must now attempt to do what only one team in NBA Finals history has accomplished. They need to overcome a 3-1 series deficit. Wembanyama remains focused on how his team responds to the adversity.
“It’s going to go one of two ways, a bad one and a good one. The bad one would be giving up, the good one would be getting stronger through this and more together, and this is what we’re going to do,” Wembanyama stated.
The Spurs look to save their season in Game 5.
