The San Antonio Spurs are in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014. Victor Wembanyama is at the center of it, as he is their best player. He rightfully earned the Western Conference Finals MVP, and he was visibly emotional after the Game 7 win.

It has been one of the most impressive postseason runs in recent history. Considering this is the Spurs' first-ever Playoff run with Wembanyama, it is going to be scary for the rest of the league because they are just getting started.

Victor Wembanyama explains why he was emotional after the Game 7 win

Wemby has never been shy about showing his emotions, but it was clear that there was a weight that was lifted off him after Game 7. He has played extremely hard for the Spurs in the Playoffs, and the WCF against the Oklahoma City Thunder was the most intense.

He took the series personally, as he wanted to get the win and prove he is already among the best. At only 22, he already has an NBA Finals appearance under his belt and a WCF MVP trophy to boot.

It has been a tough series to play in, but it seems Wembanyama relished every moment. That was why there was such an outburst of emotion, as he achieved something he had worked so hard for.

"Realizing that some part of the childhood dream is going to come true. Even though we're still hungry for one more, this moment, I can't explain it; it's so powerful," Wembanyama said to Maria Taylor after he got the WCF MVP.

"This doesn't mean anything, but the fact that we're a team. We've done that together, this is for all of us, and for all the fans right here."

Now, Wemby and the Spurs have a few days to prepare for the next series against the New York Knicks. It will be a rematch of the NBA Cup, which the Knicks won. This will be yet another test for Wemby, and he has continued to prove everyone wrong. This might be another opportunity.
