Victor Wembanyama admits he wants to compete with Anthony Edwards in the second round

The San Antonio Spurs are not in the second round after dominating the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. Now, they are set to play against the Minnesota Timberwolves, a team that is hobbled with injuries.

Head coach Chris Finch has done well to perform well without Anthony Edwards, Ayo Dosunmu, and Donte DiVincenzo. There is a chance Edwards returns in this upcoming series, which Wembanyama would love to experience.

Edwards is out with a left knee hyperextension after he had a nasty landing after a block. It is normal for Edwards to make risky plays like that because he thrives when making the most exciting moments.

Unfortunately, the Timberwolves had to win their series against the Denver Nuggets without him. It further proves that the Timberwolves are a much better team than most people give them credit for.

With Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert leading the way, the Timberwolves have a great team. However, Wembanyama and the rest of the NBA community would love to see Edwards playing in this series.

There's a chance he could return during the series, but Finch declared that he is "week-to-week." That is not a good sign, but it does not discount Wembanyama's desire as a competitor to play against Edwards in the Playoffs.

"Yeah, of course, they have more than Edwards and DiVincenzo, but they are two players I like watching. I like playing against (them). They go hard," Wembanyama said ahead of the series against Minnesota. 

Moving forward, the Timberwolves would love to have Edwards back as soon as possible. However, if it messes with his long-term future, it might be best to hold him back.
