Tennis champion Venus Williams wore a winning look to the 2026 Met Gala, where she is a co-chair alongside Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and, of course, Vogue icon Anna Wintour.

Venus Williams served an ace with her 2026 Met Gala look.
The tennis legend, who is a co-chair of this year’s event, arrived at the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art May 4 in a look worthy of another Grand Slam.
Fitting of the “Fashion Is Art” dress code, Venus wore a sparkling black mermaid gown custom made by Swarovski. She accented the look with a structured, diamond-encrusted neck piece from the jeweler that covered her chest with elaborate artwork and featured draped chains of diamonds across her arms.
The 45-year-old’s husband Andrea Preti—with whom she tied the knot in December—walked alongside her wearing a classic black suit and bowtie.
While Venus has attended the Met Gala on multiple occasions, it’s her first year as a co-chair—and she is in good company, with former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Nicole Kidman and Beyoncé. (Her sister Serena Williams was a co-host of the 2019 event.)
But of course, the seven-time Grand Slam singles champ—who studied fashion design at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale—has always been a fan of what the Met Gala stands for.
“I love fashion, I really do,” Venus told Marie Claire UK in August. “I used to always say I’m a recovering shopaholic, but I think I’ve finally recovered. It took forever.”
“I love watching the runway and the shows,” she continued. “It’s fun, it’s fascinating, it’s inspiring. I love it.”
Plus, Venus doesn’t want her status as a world-renowned athlete to pigeon-hole her opportunities.

“I don’t believe in putting art in a category—or putting people in a category,” she said. “I find, whether consciously or subconsciously, sometimes you create what other people might expect from you because you are worried [about] what you might look like. No one should have to do that.”
Supporting Venus and her co-hosts on fashion’s biggest night is a star-studded host committee, which includes Zoë Kravitz, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat and Teyana Taylor. Meanwhile, Chloe Malle—marking her first Met Gala since stepping into Anna Wintour’s shoes as the Head of Editorial Content for American Vogue—is also part of the host committee.
