A two-week sprint has brought the United States and Venezuela to the finish line of the 2026 World Baseball Classic, and one will be crowned champion Tuesday. 

Team USA won the 2017 title before falling to Japan in an epic final three years ago. The current iteration has had its ups and downs during the tournament, including a stunning loss to Italy in pool play, but impressive pitching coupled with timely hits in the knockout round have put the U.S. in position for another championship. 

Venezuela secured the other spot in the final with a seventh-inning rally against Italy on Monday, as consecutive RBI singles from Ronald Acuna Jr., Maikel Garcia and Luis Arraez put the Venezuelans on top. Their best previous finish at a WBC was third in 2009, so they already have made history here, but can they take the final step?
