US Central Command showed off the workings of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln on Thursday as tensions with Iran continue to escalate.
Time-lapse video aboard the nuclear-powered warship shows scores of sailors and CENTCOM personnel launching American jets from the Lincoln, which had recently intercepted an Iranian drone flying in its direction.
“Sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln are trained to work as a team to launch and recover safely and on time, every time,” CENTCOM touted on X.
The USS Lincoln is part of the “massive Armada” President Trump is building up in the Middle East as negotiations with Iran continue to heat up over its nuclear program and violent crackdown on protesters.
The nuclear-powered vessel arrived in the region earlier this year accompanied by its strike force, bringing additional F-35C and F-18 jet fighters that can target deep inside Iran.
The Lincoln saw its first test of the latest conflict on Tuesday when it shot down an Iranian suicide drone over the Arabian Sea after it “aggressively approached” the US warship.
“Continued Iranian harassment and threats in international waters and airspace will not be tolerated,” CENTCOM said.
“Iran’s unnecessary aggression near US forces, regional partners and commercial vessels increases risks of collision, miscalculation, and regional destabilization,” the military added.
