The Phoenix Suns are fielding calls from everyone. Every day there is another piece of Suns news and rumors are stacking up. We are probably just days away from a Kevin Durant trade. The question is, where where KD end up? One team that has consistently been mentioned with any Durant rumor is the New York Knicks. This Knicks-Suns trade idea lands KD in Madison Square Garden.
Ricky O’Donnell of SB Nation made up a few Kevin Durant trade proposals from his biggest suitors. This was the proposed Knicks-Suns trade:
Knicks trade: Karl-Anthony Towns, Pacòme Dadiet
Phoenix Suns trade: Kevin Durant
O’Donnell does not mention the Knicks adding any sort of draft capital into this deal.
Sorry, Suns fans, but this trade is not going to happen. No matter how badly Devin Booker wants to play with his old friend Karl-Anthony Towns, this isn’t a big enough return for Durant.
The one thing that makes this somewhat possible is that most Suns news and rumors are indicating that they are not wanting to pivot towards rebuilding despite losing Durant. They will attempt to build a new team around Booker.

In a way, getting Towns is probably one of the better single players they could receive in a Durant trade. Still, the Suns can always get a monster package of picks and young players from another suitor and then trade those assets for more win-now pieces.
So, despite how fun this Knicks-Suns trade idea is, it’s not going to happen.
