University of Alabama student James Gracey’s grieving girlfriend said she was “grateful” to have witnessed the last six months of his life in a heartbreaking tribute after his death in Barcelona.

“Forever in debt for having been lucky enough to be loved by the most pure-hearted, sweet, devoted and selfless soul,” Kenna Cohen wrote in a TikTok post Thursday shared after her boyfriend’s body was pulled from the Mediterranean Sea.

“I so badly wish I could rewind time but I am so grateful I was able to witness the last six months of your incredible life.”

Cohen, a University of Georgia student, described Gracey as a “blessing” before saying, “Every moment I spent with you felt nothing less than that.”

She posted a photo of the 20-year-old, writing on it: “Fly high my angel.”

Cohen also shared video of a beaming Gracey on a cable car, where she could be heard in the background telling him to send it to his mom.

Cohen and Gracey’s relationship developed last fall and she shared a montage of photos from her Phi Mu fraternity graduation ball held in November. One of the snaps she posted was of him wearing a tuxedo.

She linked the post to his private Instagram account, which featured a link to the Theta Chi fraternity he was a member of.

Gracey was in Barcelona visiting friends for Spring Break and he was last seen leaving the waterfront Shoko nightclub at 3 a.m. Tuesday, but failed to return to the Airbnb he was renting just two miles away from the venue.

He became separated from the group inside the club.

Catalan authorities feared foul play may have been involved in his disappearance after he left the club with an unidentified person, but ruled Friday that the student’s death was an accident.

“Everything points to it being an accident, not a criminal act,” a police spokesperson said.

An autopsy will be carried out but it may take several weeks for the full results to be published, as reported by CNN.

Gracey’s body was found after investigators discovered his wallet floating in the sea off Somorrostro Beach, a few hundred feet from Shoko.

Gracey’s family said they have been left “heartbroken” by his death.

“Jimmy was a deeply loved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, and our family is struggling to come to terms with this unimaginable loss,” they said.
