Bill Belichick's first season at North Carolina didn't go as well as he might've hoped.
One key to succeeding in year two at UNC will be landing the right quarterback for the Tar Heels.
On Sunday, Belichick got a transfer commitment from a guy whose on-paper stats are quite impressive.
On3 has reported that Taron Dickens has committed to transfer to UNC.
Dickens has previously played at Western Carolina at the FCS level.
In 2025, Dickens threw 38 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He completed 74.2% of his passes for 3,508 yards, and he also ran for 321 yards.
In his college career at WCU, Dickens threw 51 touchdowns and five interceptions.
North Carolina has now acquired three QBs in the transfer portal.
Competing with Dickens will be Billy Edwards, from Wisconsin, and Miles O'Neill, from Texas A&M.
Dickens is listed at 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds.
He's originally from Miami Northwestern High School.
He was originally listed as a three-star recruit by 247Sports.
His full name is pretty fun, provided in his WCU bio: Taron Tyger Dickens.
The Tar Heels will be hoping that between Dickens and the other QBs they've already brought aboard, they can find the right guy to lead their offense.
