UFC Nashville: Calvin Kattar vs. Steve Garcia: Live round-by-round updates

Calvin Kattar takes on Steve Garcia in a high-stakes battle at UFC Nashville.

Kattar has long been one of the most clinical strikers in the division, but the results haven’t followed. He enters the fight on a four-fight skid and has dropped five of his last six. His last win came over Giga Chikadze in early 2022. Since then, it’s been a tough run of injuries and setbacks.

Garcia, meanwhile, has won five straight since dropping back down to featherweight, and none of those fights have gone to the scorecards. After two second-round finishes in 2023, he blasted through SeungWoo Choi and Kyle Nelson in the first round last year.

Kattar needs a win to hold onto his spot in the top 15 and show he still belongs among the elite. Garcia, meanwhile, is looking to break in and steal that spotlight.

Round 1

Garcia opens up with wide looping punches, and Kattar counters with a one-two combination. A nice uppercut to a straight punch combination from Garcia. Kattar is struggling to get his offense going with Garcia's lateral and side-to-side movement. Garcia ducks behind Kattar's overhand right and lands two straight punches. Nice calf kick by Garcia and a spin kick that forced Kattar to pull his guard up. Strong stomp kicks to the lead leg from Garcia.

Garcia's length and use of reach are becoming difficult for Kattar to deal with. Kattar needs to land the uppercut every time Garcia gets in with the low head stance to land combinations. Garcia is pressuring Kattar against the cage. Beautiful counter right-hand from Kattar and Garcia fires back. Kattar switches his stance briefly. Nice body shot from Kattar. Garcia stings Kattar with two overhand rights. He slips off Kattar's jab to the right and enters with the straight left.

Garcia pushes Kattar on the retreat with straight punches. He's amplifying the pressure and catches Kattar with a solid punch that drops him momentarily. He's picking Kattar apart on the feet and not allowing any room to regain composure. Double jabs from Garcia. Beautiful stomp kick to the lead leg from Garcia. Kattar switches to the southpaw stance. Kattar lands a spinning attack and Garcia fires back.
