UFC fighter with extensive rap sheet hid from police in a dog crate

For over two years, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has been the home of a fighter with a laundry list of criminal charges dating back to 2014.

Sedriques Dumas, unranked UFC middleweight with a 3-3 promotional record, has variously been hit with DUI, shoplifting, domestic battery, aggravated assault, probation violation, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon by a felon, and other charges throughout his criminal career.

All in all, 'The Reaper' has been arrested fourteen times in the last eleven years in Florida.

The controversy over Dumas began right after being signed to the promotion, though the company has been steadfast in ignoring it.

However, his latest alleged crimes may be the end of his run with the UFC.

Police reports from Escambia County show that Sedriques is currently being held on $558,500 bail with two misdemeanor and one each of first-, second-, and third-degree felony charges.

As first reported by the Sacramento Bee, Dumas was discovered by police hiding in a dog crate in the shed of his ex-girlfriend, whom he has a child with.

The reports state that the professional athlete let himself into her house uninvited before snatching the woman's phone during a phone call and trying to tear the ring off her finger.

An affadavit reads, "Dumas then threw her around the room and into a large wooden vase that was in the living room before grabbing a $400 necklace set with turtles on it off her neck."

He left but then returned to throw the phone on the lawn.

When police arrived they found his car parked outside, as well scratches and bruises on the victim.

After finding him in the dog crate, Sedriques gave a different version of events to deputies, saying that his ex's mother let him into the home.

Dumas claims his ex-girlfriend willingly gave him the necklace but they quarreled over the ring, and that she threw the vase at him.

The fighter was last arrested in February 2024, but the charges were dismissed.

Sedriques Dumas last competed for the UFC less than a month ago, losing via first-round knockout to Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC 314.

If convicted of these latest crimes, or even if he escapes with a plea deal like past instances, its hard to believe the UFC would keep around a 3-3 fighter who is such a headache.

And yet, that is exactly what they have done thus far.
