It’s likely some rust has accumulated on Fury, considering it’s been about 16 months since his second consecutive loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024.
However, this isn’t new for the former WBC champion, who has unretired multiple times throughout his career.
Makhmudov is a tough opponent; the Russian comes into the fight after a recent victory over Dennis Allen and boasts an overall record of 21-2, with 19 wins by knockout.
He’s known for wrestling bears as a hobby, has a solid knockout rate, and began his career with 18 straight wins. Still, he has struggled against stronger opponents, failing to meet expectations.

Another advantage for Fury is his greater ring experience and stamina, which favor him in going the full distance.
Despite just a year age difference, Fury has fought 241 professional rounds compared to Makhmudov’s 98.

This will be Fury’s first fight on home soil since his tenth-round TKO victory over Derek Chisora in December 2022 at the same venue as Saturday’s bout.
The former lineal heavyweight world champion seems focused, and at 267.9 pounds, he’s 14 pounds lighter than at his last weigh-in against Usyk.
Although Makhmudov went a full 12 rounds in his last fight, I favor Fury to secure a stoppage victory here.
Fury’s championship instincts will activate in the later rounds, leading to a knockout.
