Tyreek Hill free agency rumor is promising news for Steelers, Raiders and Chiefs

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill will be available in free agency this offseason after the Miami Dolphins decided to cut him recently.

The problem for Hill is that he might have a tough time finding a new home, and an even tougher time landing a significant contract.

According to Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom, Hill's market is not expected to be anything close to robust thanks to his injury (he suffered a dislocated knee cap and torn ligaments in 2025) and off-the-field issues, and the belief that Hill's best days are behind him.

"Former All Pro receiver Tyreek Hill, once a game-changing playmaker, is struggling to find a new team, with concerns about his ability, attitude, and off-field issues," the NFL insider reported. "Many teams hesitant to sign him, with speculation of a possible reunion with the Chiefs at a reduced salary."

“We aren’t touching him,” one general manager told La Canfora. “No chance. We think he’s done. He isn’t a difference-maker anymore. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Not even as a vet-minimum guy for us.”

While that's all bad news for Hill, it's good news for wide receiver-needy teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders.

A poor market for Hill means he's not going to cost much in free agency, which will significantly lower the risk associated with signing him.

The Chiefs have widely been speculated about as a possible landing spot for Hill given his past connection with the team, but head coach Any Reid was non-committal on a reunion.

"I don't know if Tyreek is healthy right now to do anything. I'm sure he's working hard on that part of it to get that straightened out," Reid said. "There's nothing happening there."

Like the Chiefs, the Steelers and Raiders both need more help at wide receiver, but the Steelers are much better equipped to handle Hill's personality given the fact their roster is loaded with veterans and good leaders.

But we certainly wouldn't rule out the Raiders, who have the most dire need at wide receivers of the three teams mentioned here.

All that said, Hill might not find a home for awhile, as teams will likely want to see him get cleared first before making a move and that may not happen until the start of the season.
