Two landing spots emerge for Giannis post-draft

The 2025 NBA offseason might as well be known as the “Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.” The Greek Freak has been involved in trade rumors in the news cycle since the NBA Finals concluded.

With the first round of the NBA Draft over with and the second round taking place tonight, the fate of Giannis’ future may be closer to being decided.

In a Bleacher Report article from Andrew Peters, he named two landing spots that Giannis could end up playing next season.

The first destination Peters believes Giannis could go to is the Brooklyn Nets, who can provide lots of draft capital in a trade.

“If there is one team loaded with draft picks while also having the cap space to land a star, it's the Brooklyn Nets,” Peters said. “The Nets have three first-round picks in 2027, two in 2029 and a pair in 2031, plus an abundance of second-rounders to sweeten a possible deal. Their offer to Milwaukee could be even more enticing, considering the team can take all of Giannis’ contract without the Bucks having to take on any additional money.”

The average age of Brooklyn’s franchise is 24-years-old, giving Giannis a chance to play with a team primed to rise in the near future.

The Miami Heat is another place Giannis could be playing at.

“Along with a handful of enticing young players like Tyler Herro, Kel’el Wade and more, Miami owns first-round picks in 2026, 2028, 2029, 2030 and 2031. Throwing together a deal featuring some talent and future assets would surely be enough to bring Antetokounmpo to South Beach,” Peters said.

The Heat have had a knack for reeling in star players to its roster, most recently with Jimmy Butler. Depending on who Miami would give away, Giannis would be in a situation surrounded with talent that is ready to make a push in a wide open Eastern Conference.
