Twins projected to come to terms with former NL home run leader

There has not been much news surrounding the Minnesota Twins this offseason. While they were involved in trade rumors, they have yet to move in that direction, but did sign a few free agents.

Minnesota came to terms with Josh Bell on a one-year, $7 million deal. They also brought back Taylor Rogers on a one-year deal and signed Victor Caratini to a two-year, $14 million contract.

You also cannot forget that they will be coming into the new season with a new manager. The Twins moved on from Rocco Baldelli at the end of the season and are starting anew with former Pittsburgh Pirates manager Derek Shelton.

Twins projected to come to terms with former NL home run leader

The Twins need to figure out who will be used as the DH for the club moving forward. Some believe that the job could land on Matt Walner or Trevor Larnach. But Bleacher Report's Joel Retuer believes the Twins will sign former NL home run leader Marcell Ozuna to be used at DH.

Ozuna is still one of the few free agents on the open market left. His market has been hampered by a combination of his declining performance, age, and specialized role as a designated hitter.

However, he still has the potential to be a formidable asset. He is coming off a season where he only missed a handful of games and hit 21 home runs. While that number is low in comparison to what he has done in previous seasons, that is still good offense, especially for a team that finished in the middle of the pack when it comes to home runs last season.
