Twins' Matt Wallner could be a major steal for fantasy owners this year

1 hour ago 2

For fantasy owners, there is a plethora of outfield talent to take this year. Some are known greats who should have no problem kicking it into gear this season, while some options are looking to bounce back, and some young sluggers are looking to make a name for themselves.

Aaron Judge will be a top 2 pick in nearly every draft, while Juan Soto and Ronald Acuna Jr. are other exciting options owners will consider.

There are also some options that owners could consider in the late rounds, which could be the reason that they either make or miss the fantasy postseason.

Twins' Matt Wallner could be a major steal for fantasy owners this year

One option that may not be on everyone's radar is Minnesota Twins slugger Matt Wallner. While he is no Julio Rodriguez, he could be one of the best late-round options in fantasy.

According to Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter, his ADP is 307, and he tags him as one of the most undervalued at the position.

"Wallner slugged 22 home runs in 392 plate appearances last season, and while he strikes out a ton, he has legitimate 30-homer upside with a clear runway to regular playing time on a rebuilding Minnesota Twins roster. He currently looks like the leading candidate to hit cleanup in the Minnesota lineup."

There was some good and bad in Wallner's game last season. He played in a career-high 104 games and hit a career-high 22 home runs, but his batting average dropped by .057, which he will need to pick back up this season.

If he can do this, it could be a career year across the board for the young slugger. He is poised to hit cleanup this year for the Twins, and could produce great RBI numbers for someone who is not expected to be drafted until late.
