Turning Point USA's halftime show details: What to know about Bad Bunny alternative for Super Bowl 60

1 hour ago 2

International music sensation Bad Bunny will be headlining the halftime show for Super Bowl 60. The NFL's choice of Bad Bunny rubbed some the wrong way, including President Trump and many of his constituents.

Many of the complaints against Bad Bunny were that he wasn't American (he is an American from Puerto Rico) and that he didn't sing traditional American music that the Super Bowl normally has. The second claim is true because Bad Bunny does perform in Spanish, and his halftime show is reportedly set to be sung all in Spanish.

To counter the halftime show, Turning Point USA, a nonprofit organization founded in part by Charlie Kirk, announced it would hold its own halftime show with performances the group would support. This idea wasn't finalized until the week of the Super Bowl, when the organization finally announced its halftime show lineup.

Here is everything to know about Turning Point USA's alternate Super Bowl halftime show.

Turning Point halftime show details

With no official start time announced, it is assumed that the Turning Point halftime show will begin during halftime of Super Bowl 60. It is being described as something "the family can enjoy, but it is going to be excellent, high-octane entertainment."

With the Super Bowl halftime show typically lasting only about 15 minutes, it remains to be seen how Turning Point USA will utilize all four announced performers in that time.

Spokesman Andrew Kolvet said, "The All-American Halftime Show is an opportunity for all Americans to enjoy a halftime show with no agenda other than to celebrate faith, family, and freedom. We set out to provide an entertainment option that will be fun, excellent, and exciting for the entire family while millions are gathered together for the big game. These performers will deliver exactly that, and we can’t wait to watch the incredible show they’re about to put on. We know millions around the country will be watching too."

TPUSA Super Bowl halftime show performers

TPUSA has announced four performers for its halftime show.

Kid Rock

Kid Rock will likely be the most well-known performer of the halftime show. The American singer, rapper and songwriter began his career in 1988. He differentiated himself at the start of his career by performing rap rock before settling into the country rock genre that he is known for.

Kid Rock is likely most known for his singles "Cowboy," "Picture" with Sheryl Crow and "All Summer Long." Admittedly, he is not the first act that comes to mind for the "family-friendly" tag that the halftime show has, but it could depend on what he chooses to play for the show.

Brantley Gilbert

Gilbert is a 41-year-old country rock singer from Jefferson, Georgia. He began his music career in 2005 and was initially signed to Colt Ford's label, but has since signed with Big Machine Records and their Valory division.

Gilbert has had four songs go number one. "Country Must Be Country Wide," "You don't Know Her Like I Do," "Bottoms Up," and "One Hell of an Amen" all went No. 1 with Gilbert as a singer and he was credited as a writer for "Dirt Road Anthem" and "My Kinda Party" recorded by Jason Aldean that also topped the charts.

Lee Brice

Brice is a 46-year-old country singer from Sumter, South Carolina. His career began in 2007, and he is signed to Curb Records. Brice has had 18 singles, and eight of them reached number one on Billboard's Country Airplay chart.

One of his most well-known songs, "Love Like Crazy," was the top country song on Billboard's Year-End list in 2010. Brice's "Siren" was featured on the soundtrack for Madden 16.

Gabby Barrett

Barrett may be more recognized by younger audiences. The 25-year-old was born in Munhall, Pennsylvania in 2000 and began her music career in 2018. She was a finalist for Season 16 of "American Idol," but was eliminated in the finale. Barrett was named the Academy of Country Music Awards New Female Artist of the Year in 2021.

Why did NFL pick Bad Bunny for halftime show?

In September 2025, Bad Bunny was announced as the Super Bowl 60 halftime show. The decision was heavily criticized, largely by President Trump and his constituents.

Amidst the backlash about the decision, the NFL was questioned about their decision. NFL senior vice president and global head of major events Jon Barker told The Athletic about the decision.

"What we really look at first and foremost is who’s the right artist for that moment," Barker said. "And we absolutely 100 percent believe and know that Bad Bunny is the right artist for this moment, for this show. We’re already successful, having Bad Bunny a part of it. We always say football is for everybody. And so is music. Music is for everybody. Music is very subjective, and everybody will have their opinion. But our role is to unite fans, our role is unify fans and we truly believe that Bad Bunny is, again, the artist that can do that."

The NFL continually talked about how the international sensation can help make the league more appealing to the world. Bad Bunny is arguably the most popular musical artist on the planet, and he is the second-most-streamed artist in Spotify's history. With the NFL looking to further expand internationally, with Commissioner Roger Goodell eyeing an eventual 16-game international slate, bringing in international viewers for Bad Bunny makes sense.
