Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Rebels to a 49-0 rout of The Citadel.

Chambliss completed 29-of-33 passes as Ole Miss scored on six of its first seven possessions. The Rebels piled up 603 yards of total offense while holding The Citadel to just 106 total yards.

This was the first time Chambliss was pulling early in a game since taking over as starting QB from Austin Simmons. He finished with 100 yards passing with and interception before AJ Maddox closed out the game.

“Let’s be honest, that’s a very good football team,” Citadel coach Maurice Drayton said. “They are not ranked where they are for no reason. They are very good on both sides of the football.”

The Rebels dominated from the start, scoring touchdowns on five of six first-half drives and leading 35-0 at halftime after running 49 plays for 444 yards. Ole Miss averaged more than eight yards per play and never punted until late in the third quarter.

Ole Miss’ defense recorded nine tackles for loss and two takeaways, posting its first shutout of the season.
