Top 3 CBs that the Cowboys need to target after releasing Trevon Diggs

3. Shavon Revel

The Dallas Cowboys drafted Shavon Revel in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft. Ravel excelled with Louisburg and East Carolina during his collegiate career.

The promising cornerback has appeared in eight games in his rookie season. He has dealt with injuries, but has put up a stat line of 35 tackles and three pass deflections.

The Cowboys' replacement for Diggs could be an in-house one with Revel still in the early stages of his professional football career. Expect cornerbacks coach David Overstreet II to put in ample time during the offseason and preseason to harness Revel's talents.

2. Jermod McCoy

According to Sports Illustrated, the Dallas Cowboys could be in the running to select the University of Tennessee's Jermod McCoy in the 2026 NFL draft. McCoy is viewed as one of the best defensive backs in college football.

Diggs started slow in Dallas before becoming one of the best pass-breaking CBs in the NFL. McCoy could be another success story if the Cowboys have the patience to develop him.

Adding McCoy to a cornerback department of Shavon Revel, Caelen Carson, and DaRon Bland would make the Cowboys a nightmare to come up against in the near future.

1. Jaylen Watson

Jaylen Watson is one of the best cornerbacks set to be a free agent in the offseason. Watson is a starter for the Kansas City Chiefs and has contributed to two Super Bowl rings.

Furthermore, he has amassed a stat line of 64 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions in 15 games in 2025. He is poised to get a significant contract either in Kansas or somewhere else.

The Cowboys could replace Trevon Diggs with a two-time Super Bowl champion. Watson's impact will be felt on the gridiron and in the dressing room.
