Following a rocky ending with the Dallas Cowboys, Trevon Diggs isn’t finished just yet.
Although the Dallas Cowboys have decided to cut ties with their star cornerback, he has reportedly made it clear that he wants to continue playing this season if the opportunity is there.
“Trevon Diggs just called me to tell me the Cowboys have released him,” NFL Network’s Jane Slater reported.
“While he says he will miss his time in Dallas, he assures me he is healthy and motivated as he looks to join another team looking for another piece to add this postseason.”

Diggs is hitting the waiver wire this week, giving teams a chance to scoop up his current contract. If claimed, Diggs would be owed a $472,000 payday for Week 18. If active, he would earn an additional $58,823, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
This season, Diggs is playing on an $8.5 million base salary. He was carrying a cap hit of over $12 million for the Cowboys.
For the 2026 NFL season, Diggs could make $14.5 million in salary. That would increase to $19.5 million in 2027, and $20 million in 2028. However, those years are not guaranteed.
If the NFL allows Diggs to go unclaimed, it would give the cornerback the freedom to choose his next destination. Obviously, he would want to land a playoff team.
With one week left in the season, most of the playoff contenders are decided. The AFC will be represented by the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, and the Buffalo Bills. The Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers are battling for their spot.
In the NFC, they’ll have the Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, and the Green Bay Packers. The Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are fighting for a spot this week.
It’s unclear where Diggs could be headed next, but the former Cowboys star has made his plans to keep playing clear.
This season, Diggs appeared in eight games with Dallas. He registered 25 tackles, without an interception or deflection over that stretch.
