TreVeyon Henderson injury update from Patriots gives hope for Week 1

The New England Patriots were practicing on Saturday as they prepare for the season-opening contest against the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday.

The status of running back TreVeyon Henderson for that game remains up in the air as the running back has been sidelined with an ankle issue since early last week.

However, head coach Mike Vrabel provided a positive injury update on Henderson before practice that brings optimism for his Week 1 status.

TreVeyon Henderson injury update

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel indicated that Henderson could practice on Saturday, which would amount to his first participation since his injury.

"Vrabel also indicated RB TreVeyon Henderson could practice today," Evan Lazar of Patriots.com noted.

"We’ll see where TreVeyon is at," Vrabel said.

We would expect Henderson to be limited in his first session back if he does take part.

While this doesn't guarantee Henderson's status, it is at least a step in the right direction for the second-year back and gives him a chance to play Wednesday.

TreVeyon Henderson's fantasy football outlook

Henderson finished his rookie campaign with 911 rushing yards, 221 receiving yards and 10 total touchdowns, good enough for RB21 overall in PPR formats.

Making those numbers more impressive is the fact that he didn't really have a steady role until about Week 8.

Looking ahead to 2026, Henderson is going to be splitting work with Rhamondre Stevenson once again.

That will limit his upside a bit, but he should be much more involved in the offense from the jump, which wasn't the case last season.

If that turns out to be the case, Henderson probably has a floor of about RB15 and he could very well work his way into the top 10.
