The San Francisco 49ers have accomplished so much this season despite all of the injuries they've had to deal with. Fred Warner and Nick Bosa are done for the year, and plenty of others have missed significant time.
But, heading into Week 18, the 49ers can win over the Seattle Seahawks and clinch the NFC West, the NFC's number 1 seed, and a first-round bye. Unfortunately, the 49ers might be down a key player once again.
This time, offensive tackle and future Hall of Famer Trent Williams is hurt. According to Dan Graziano of ESPN, the 49ers' star left tackle is a "long shot" to play in Week 18 against the Seahawks.
49ers likely to be without Trent Williams in Week 18
"Niners left tackle Trent Williams is dealing with a pulled hamstring," Graziano writes, "and while coach Kyle Shanahan declined to rule him out Tuesday for Saturday night's game, Williams is 37 and hasn't had this injury before, and the playing is playing on a short week. He's probably a long shot to play against the Seahawks in a game that will decide the NFC West title and the conference's top seed."
San Francisco has dealt with plenty of injuries on offense this season. Brock Purdy has missed a lot of time, as have George Kittle and Ricky Pearsall.
The lone healthy player for the 49ers has been running back Christian McCaffrey. The offensive line has also been healthy, that is, until now, with Williams going down with a hamstring injury.
While this doesn't seem to be an issue that will impact Williams in the playoffs this season, he's a long shot for Week 18, and very well could face some longer-term issues into the playoffs.
But the 49ers have dealt with plenty of injuries this season, and Williams' hamstring is just another bump in the road that hasn't slowed down Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers this season.
It comes at a bad time, and will be a lot harder of a task for backup offensive tackle Austen Pleasants. But he showed up in Week 17 and played well, and the 49ers have every reason to be confident with him as their tackle for a week or two.
The 49ers are likely to be without Williams for their huge Week 18 matchup against a stout Seahawks defense. But, as the 49ers have done so all year,
