Trent McDuffie won’t have to travel far to meet his new team.

The cornerback was seen in Los Angeles on Tuesday night — just hours before the Chiefs agreed to trade him to the Rams on Wednesday morning.

McDuffie was spotted in a seat at the Lakers vs. Pelicans matchup at Crypto.com Arena, although he kept a relatively low profile, sitting several rows above the hardwood.

It’s, of course, not all that surprising to see the NFL star in Southern California cheering on the Lakers — he was born in Westminster and attended several prominent high schools in the area.

He also said in 2025 that if he were going to play for any team other than Kansas City, he hoped it would be for the Rams.

“I’d probably want to play close to my family,” McDuffie told a crowd at one of his T22 McDuffie Foundation events. “So that’d probably be the LA Rams, so that my family could come see every single game.”

The Rams are reportedly sending multiple draft picks — including a first-round, a fifth-rounder, a sixth-rounder and a 2027 third-rounder — to acquire the All-Pro.

The 25-year-old is expected to land a lucrative long-term contract once the trade is finalized.

The move won’t just mean McDuffie will have some far better access to the Lakers — it’ll also reunite him with his former college mentor, Jimmy Lake, who’s LA’s current defensive backs coach.

Seemingly a true win-win for the player and his new squad.
