Travis Kelce's ex-teammate won’t ask for ‘handout’ from Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce has reached a new level of fame since dating Taylor Swift. With the heightened attention, the football star has reportedly been approached for more favors — but not by one former teammate.

Retired Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith isn’t looking for any handouts from the pop superstar. On Thursday, May 1, Smith appeared on The Rich Eisen Show and was asked about his relationship with Kelce and Swift.

“Still tight with Travis Kelce?” sports commentator Rich Eisen asked. “As in, tickets to Taylor Swift concerts for you and the family type?”

“I haven’t hit him up on that,” Smith revealed on air. “Nor do I ever expect to. He’s got enough people, I’m sure, bringing that up to him.”

Eisen followed up, asking Smith about his thoughts on other athletes making such requests. For instance, former Carolina Panthers player Greg Olsen had reportedly asked Kelce for Eras Tour tickets the previous year.

“Again, these are special relationships. And to go ask for a handout…from his girlfriend? It’s just not my thing,” Smith concluded.

The former NFL player isn’t the only one with strong feelings about ticket requests. The tight end’s brother, Jason Kelce, made it clear he won’t be granting any favors either.

In November 2024, the former Eagles player spoke candidly on the same show about being asked for tickets. "Thankfully I don't get a lot of people reaching out for Taylor Swift tickets...it is an immediate no. But, I don't get a lot of that," he admitted to Eisen.
