Jordyn Woods opens up on healing and supporting KAT through loss of mom

In one of her most vulnerable interviews yet, Jordyn Woods sat down with Crystal Renee Hayslett on Keep It Positive, Sweetie to discuss grief, trauma, and how hard it can be to heal even years after difficult life events. In an episode released on Tuesday, May 6, the model and entrepreneur opened up about losing her father and the emotional spiral she faced afterward.

“There’s no right or wrong way to grieve,” Woods said. “I think...what I did wrong; what I felt was right in the moment, was kind of run from what happened and pretend like it didn’t happen. Go out more and drink more and party and just say yes to everything because I just wanted to be distracted. It’s been eight years now, so it's taken time... I was spiraling in that moment...until I had to sit still for a while and take a look at myself and heal.”

When asked whether the loss of Karl-Anthony Towns’ mother during COVID brought them closer, Woods nodded: “Yeah, that actually brought us together and brought us a lot closer." Woods explained she was actually friends with KAT before that occurred. She said just being able to support him was healing for her as well.

"(You) take a look in the mirror and realize oh there are certain parts of what you’re dealing with that I need to confront as well...It never really feels better but you learn to deal with that and get stronger."

Woods, 27, continues to be a steady source of support for Towns, 29, who posted 14 points and 13 rebounds in the Knicks’ 108–105 overtime win against the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals Monday night. Their connection — both emotional and public — has resonated deeply with fans.
