Trae Young takes major off-court role with fast-growing fruit-pop brand HUNDY!

1 hour ago 2

Trae Young has built his basketball career by seeing opportunities before they fully develop. Now, the four-time NBA All-Star is applying that same approach away from the court. Young has joined HUNDY! as an investor, shareholder and brand partner, adding another intriguing venture to his expanding off-court portfolio. The company announced the partnership on Instagram with a video introducing Young’s new role.

This is designed to be more than a familiar arrangement in which a famous athlete appears in advertisements and promotes a product on social media. Young is expected to take an active role in the brand’s future, including helping develop an upcoming flavor. The partnership connects one of basketball’s most recognizable players with a young company attempting to simplify the frozen-snack aisle. HUNDY! makes its pops with organic whole fruit and no added sugar, additives or preservatives.

For Young, the decision was also personal. As a father of two, he wanted to support a product he enjoys and feels comfortable sharing with his family.

Why Trae Young invested in HUNDY!

The most natural athlete partnerships begin with an authentic connection to the product. That appears to be the foundation for Young and HUNDY!. The star guard was already a fan of the company’s fruit pops before becoming financially involved in the business.

HUNDY! currently offers Mango, Pineapple and Berry varieties. The company’s official product pages list one ingredient for each flavor: organic mango, organic pineapple or a mixture of organic blueberries, raspberries and strawberries.

The Mango pop contains 30 calories, while the Pineapple and Berry varieties contain 25 calories. Each provides a full serving of fruit, according to the company.

That simplicity is central to HUNDY!’s identity.

Co-founders Michelle and Aviv Schor created the company after becoming frustrated with supposedly better-for-you snacks that still contained added sugars and artificial ingredients. As parents and health-conscious consumers, they wanted to produce a frozen treat their family could enjoy without first having to decipher a lengthy ingredient list.

HUNDY!’s company story says the founders wanted to preserve the fun and nostalgia associated with traditional frozen pops while replacing the additives with real fruit.

Young’s involvement gives that message a significantly larger platform.

He brings an enormous audience, instant name recognition and credibility among younger consumers. His experiences as a professional athlete, entrepreneur and parent also allow HUNDY! to reach several audiences without forcing the partnership into a single category. The pops can function as a morning grab-and-go option, a post-workout refresher, an afternoon snack or a simple dessert. That versatility helps explain why Young viewed HUNDY! as more than another endorsement opportunity.

Young will help shape what comes next

The most interesting part of the partnership may be what Young does from this point forward.

Young is not merely lending his name and image to HUNDY!. He is positioned to help influence the brand’s direction, beginning with his involvement in the creation of a new flavor. That distinction matters in an era when athletes increasingly want equity and input instead of a standard promotional fee. Young has an opportunity to benefit from the company’s growth while helping determine how it expands.

His ability to offer immediate feedback as a consumer should be valuable. Young also understands how products connect with athletes, parents and children, three groups that fit naturally into HUNDY!’s potential customer base.

The company has already begun receiving attention beyond its partnership with Young. Food & Wine recently included HUNDY!’s Mango Frozen Fruit Pop among five new products bringing additional variety to the frozen-dessert aisle.

The publication highlighted the remarkably short ingredient list and the product’s portable push-up packaging.

Young’s arrival could accelerate that momentum.

Fans will naturally be curious about the new flavor he is helping develop. His involvement also gives HUNDY! a compelling story to tell as it attempts to grow distribution and introduce the brand to shoppers who have never encountered it.

Young has spent his NBA career creating offense through imagination, timing and confidence. His newest project will require a different set of skills, but the underlying challenge is familiar: recognize an opening and turn it into something bigger.

This time, the assist could help HUNDY! become a major player in the frozen-snack market.
